Hydration is Essential
Two linden trees were planted at the Řetouň I cross on June 24, 2023, and watered on the same occasion. Until they develop a more extensive root system, they must be provided with a "hydration regime" throughout the first summer in case of insufficient rainfall. How is this done? A car brings 40 liters of water in jerry cans as close as possible to the cross. Then, three bottles with a total volume of 10 liters are placed in a backpack, and the remaining jerry cans are carried by hand to the trees, approximately 250 meters away. Once the water is emptied, the process is repeated. Simple.
Since there has been little rainfall so far, the linden trees were watered in this manner on June 30 and again today, as temperatures of around 35°C are expected in the coming days. As seen in the photo, the trees are thriving.
