Dne 27. 5. 2023 se sešla dobrá pracovní sestava. Prostě brigáda jako řemen.

Rýdeč Memorial - Almost Finished

The idea of renovating the war memorial dedicated to the fallen citizens of Rýdeč in the First World War originated with Iveta Pilníková, who has lived in Rýdeč since birth. In November 2022, a "war" meeting took place in a café in Ústí nad Labem, attended by Iveta Pilníková and Zdeněk Petr, representing the association. The progress of the project can be followed on Renovations.

On Saturday, May 27, 2023, a sufficient number of people gathered at 9:00 a.m. to complete the stone wall on both sides of the staircase by approximately 2:00 p.m. The initial plan was to construct a dry-stone wall with a slope according to the conceptual design. However, during the preparatory excavation work, the lower foundation line of the original wall was discovered, leading to the decision to restore it instead.

What remains to be done? The stone wall needs to be repointed in the same manner as the stone foundation of the monument. A mature oak tree (already purchased) will be planted approximately where its predecessor once stood. Two lanterns will be acquired and placed in the recesses on either side of the base. Landscaping will be completed... and finally, the grand unveiling of the monument, originally erected in June 1924, will take place.
