The map shows four categories of points of interest within the MUZOOS project in the area defined by the borders of the Bohemian Central Highlands Protected Landscape Area: extinct villages, extinct settlements, extinct isolated places, and, under the category "Other," extinct structures primarily intended for purposes other than housing (e.g., lookout towers, restaurants). Clicking on a point of interest will open a panel displaying its name, category, coordinates, and a URL linking to the available documentation.
In the initial phase of identifying points of interest, data from www.zanikleobce.cz was used. In the next phase, additional points of interest will be identified by comparing stable cadastral maps from 1843 with contemporary maps. Further data will be gathered in cooperation with municipalities within the Protected Landscape Area, as well as the State District Archives under the State Regional Archive in Litoměřice. Contributions from local enthusiasts who specialize in extinct settlements are also welcome.
The map itself was created by the Department of Spatial Planning at the Ústí nad Labem Regional Office based on documents provided by the Malečovský rozhled association. It is a base map of the Czech Republic at a scale of 1:10,000 (ZM 10), including divisions by regions, districts, municipalities, and cadastral areas.
