Extinct Villages of the Bohemian Central Highlands

The project for the vanished villages, settlements, and isolated places (abbreviated as ZOOS) in the Bohemian Central Highlands was initiated by the chairman of the association in the municipality of Malečov, where it met with understanding and support. The first outline of the entire project was presented at the meeting of the Council of the North Bohemian Association of Municipalities (SESO) on April 4, 2023. Everything is still under discussion, and the association will likely conclude a cooperation agreement with the municipality of Malečov and will organize the entire event similarly to the construction of the observation tower on Luxembourg Hill.

A MUZOOS documentation center should be established in the cultural center in Rýdeč. The entire building, which is currently only partially used, could be transformed into a multifunctional facility, potentially becoming a new attractive destination not only for tourists. There are many ideas and proposals; however, a study must first be conducted to outline possible solutions and serve as a basis for further discussions. In the meantime, at the beginning of June 2023, the Department of Regional Planning of the Ústí nad Labem Region created a mapping application based on the association’s request, which will be used for documenting the ZOOS.

After the first meeting of the working group with the project designer, the MUZOOS project will be included among the standard projects of the association.
